Harvest is a browser extension that inspects a website's front-end resources
(HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, and other assets), can explore multiple
pages of a site, and lets you export a local, offline copy. This page explains
exactly what Harvest does and does not do with data.
The short version: Harvest does not collect,
store, sell, or transmit any personal data. Everything it does happens locally,
inside your own browser and on your own device. There are no analytics, no
tracking, and no external servers operated by Harvest.
What data Harvest accesses
Web page content of sites you actively act on. When you click
Scan Page or Explore Site, Harvest reads the current page (and,
for crawls, other same-origin pages of that site) to discover and collect their
resources. This only happens in response to your explicit action.
Resource files of that site. To build a faithful offline copy,
Harvest fetches the site's own assets (stylesheets, scripts, images, fonts, etc.).
How that data is used
Collected page content and assets are processed entirely on your device,
to display them in the extension's side panel and to build the ZIP archive you choose to download.
Nothing is sent to Harvest's developer or to any third party. Harvest has no backend server.
Harvest does not use cookies, advertising IDs, analytics SDKs, or any tracking technology.
What Harvest stores
Harvest does not maintain a remote database and does not store your browsing
history. The only files saved are the ZIP archives you explicitly
export, which are written to your computer's normal Downloads location by your browser.
Permissions and why they are needed
sidePanel — to show Harvest's interface as a docked side panel.
scripting & tabs — to run the resource-discovery
logic on the page you scan and to open/manage temporary background tabs while
crawling additional pages of the same site.
Host access to websites (<all_urls>)
— because Harvest is a general-purpose site inspector, it must be able to read and
fetch resources from whatever site you choose to inspect. This access is used only
to perform the scan/export you request, and only on sites you act on.
Third-party services
None. Harvest does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data
services. The optional local web server that Harvest bundles inside an exported ZIP
runs only on your own machine, when you choose to launch it, to let the saved site
render offline.
Children's privacy
Harvest is a developer/designer utility and is not directed at children. It collects
no personal information from anyone.
